This Sunday, I was honored to host a baby shower for my dear friend, Megan, whom I have known since the 6th grade! Since the shower was just going to be her girlfriends from college and/or high school, I decided to have a sit down girls luncheon. I had received a new cookbook for Christmas and was dying to try out some of the recipes in there!
I started off with this invitation that I found on etsy. This is the sample invitation from etsy, NOT the actual one that I sent for Megan!
The best part about planning this shower is that I had everything I needed to pull it all together! I had tons of burlap that I had intended to use at Thanksgiving, so 4 months later, I finally made time to sit down a sew a table runner. Nothing like a party at your house to get you motivated to get things done!

For the record, I didn't make the cake :) The only thing I did here was add the decorations on top.
When I was going through my china cabinet the day of the party, I stumbled upon several silver baby cups that I had collected over the last couple of years. They seemed like the perfect touch for a baby shower!

I am not a baby shower game kind-of-a-person. I did do some research and tried to find a game or two that wasn't awkward and embarrassing and I came up with nothing! I decided to get a children's book and have the guests write their best parenting advice and/or best wishes for the parents-to-be!

Before the guests arrived, Megan and I had arranged to take some maternity pictures. I am always looking for practice (and boy do I need it!) and subjects that take direction! I took a few shots of Megan that I will share later this week as I promised Megan that I wouldn't post anything without her permission. However, I don't think she will mind a little bump picture as a preview!

We had a very nice time and I can't wait to meet this little baby boy!
